Keaton 9/28/09

We had Joe and his better half, Ddb, Calvin and I on board the Bream-mobile. Fishing was considerably slower than the previous week and the quality of fish caught were not as good as before - believe we have a couple that were close to 20''. On a good note, I found my first grouper number for Keaton. We must have caught over 10 grouper on that spot, with the biggest probably around 14'' long (anyone has a saltwater aquarium?).
Here're some of the highlights:
Calvin with a fattie.

Another decent fish by Calvin, on an artificial this time.

Joe with a nice one

Highlight of the trip was when Joe hooked up with a big tarpon estimating to 100 lb. She made one good jump probably no more than 10 yards from the boat - almost gave everyone a hart attack. Only managed to shot one picture before the ordeal was over. Here's Joe hanging for deal life.

I had to slow down for this fella. He was going probably going 20 mph.

We ended up with only 14 keeper. I thought we could have done better considering how hot the fishing has been the last two months. After looking at the other reports, it seems like the fishing was slowing down a little last week. The fish were feeding in a very narrow window of time, and we caught most of our fish from 1-3 pm, right before the peak of high tide. We were in 4-5' water. Joe, you are welcome to fish with us anytime.
