East of Lighthouse with brother, daughter and SIL
With the success we had last week east of the lighthouse our fishing team had confidence of a good showing in the NFGFC tournament.
We went straight to the rock grass to fish the falling tide. Fishless and three hours later we moved to spot number 2.
This was the Zebco grouper hole from last week. It produced a triple limit of trout 18-20 last week.
Fishless and two hours later we moved to spot number three. It produced 9 nice reds last week.
No reds, no joy. It did finally produce 5 pissy little trout that weighed 7 and 3/4 pounds.
Wind and sea conditions were beautiful. About a 5-7 mph wind and just enough wave action to get a slow drift.
I believe the overnight cold front shut down the bite.
Most everyone that caught fish Saturday caught them in a short window of opportunity. We had NO trout until noon.
Still can't wait until next tournament.
Maybe I will be rested by then.

The spots we caught fish on Friday didnt' produce a single fish on Saturday...Glad you took the family out

Your post last week was much better.
It happens to the best of us, and it sucks when it happens on tournament day.

I was gonna post a report JT; but, you pretty much just posted my report for me. You just have to change the 5 pissy little trout to 3 and you'd have it.

Sometimes they just will not bite.

I wish I had $10 for every one of your "The one that got away" trips.Jumptrout51 wrote:If we had the one that got away we would have beat my guide and yours and you and Casey at the same time.snatch-n-reel wrote:It's ok JT you will have your guide with you next week he will put you on some.

If I had all those $10 fish I could.
And TinCan would be wealthy.

JT - great day with family.
We'll make sure and bring our A game next week. Leave some of your fishing holes open for us on Saturday.

well i dont feel that bad about my sorry azz trip sat. now. i saw u guys all att jbt 530 sat. morning. i was in that ugly yellow ricerocket. i too went east of the lighthouse partly because of your report last week. its not normally my area. tried to get my coworker onto a red as hes never caught one.
all we got was trash in close and a few dink trout and bass in 5ft. over rocks.
i did get a hardtop to smash my skitterwalk..... that was fun except that i thought of course it was a red......
