I have an old Ambassadeur 6500 (1988 version) baitcaster that I need to have repaired. The spool slips/skips at times when under a retrieve. I don't get any answer from Rivers and the only other place I know is Kevins. I would like to have some other suggestions for repair if anyone knows where it can be dropped off or sent in. Thanks.

HEY BUD, SEND IT TO BASS PRO SHOPS, THEY REPAIRED ONE OF MY 5500 ABOUT 5 YRS. AGO, REPLACED THE WORM, DRIVE GEARS, REPLACE LINE GUIDE AND PUT ON NEW BEARINGS, AND REPLACE THE HANDLE. THE CHARGE WAS
$25 PLUS POSTAGE. I AM STILL USING THAT REEL AND IT WORKS FINE.

:-D ...Good morning Ross. Didn't say it was OLD...just that it was an OLDER version. Some of these "kids" don't go back that far. One of my boys took exception one time to me fuss'n at em for doing so poorly on a History exam. I got a bit excited and told em... "History was one of my best subjects when I was in school!!"" He calmly looked me straight in the eye and said...DAD... when you were in school, nothing had happend yet!"

I take my rod and reel repair to River's. If you tried to call on a Wednesday (Nov. 12th), he's closed.
