Slipped off by myself to kind of clear the head and reconnect with myself and all that good stuff. Figured Econfina would be a good place to do it. Decided on Econfina because the weather report was calling for 15 to 20 MPH winds- so I figured at least I'd have the river if the flats were too rough. Got in by 10:00 AM yesterday and it was obviously go-time cause the boats were filing out. Fished in 5+ foot for a couple of hours without much to show for it. Went in close just before high tide and had the same results. Came back out to 4 ft. and things started happening. I had 5 good trout by 2:00. Headed back in the river and tooled around trying to catch a redfish but only caught more trout.. This morning the plan was to fish in the river till I could get out at 10:30 or so.. The plan didn't happen since I pulled up to one spot in the river and caught 5 fish in short order. Fished a while longer with only more trout to show for it so at 10:00 I headed back to the ramp and took out.
This was only the 2nd time I've had my boat in at Econfina and I like what I've seen both times. It certainly is a beautiful place. The people are friendly and the fishing has been great both times.
The fish were liking the electric chicken gulp. I caught few on a gold red-fin also.
I had my camera but didn't think about using it.
