SGI 11-15-2008 NFGFC Tourney

Post by jsuber »

I fished the NFGFC tournament and decided to fish in my kayak since the water was gonna be extremely low as the day went along. I tried Cash Creek that offfered great protection from the 20-25 mph winds and 2-3 foot seas out of the North. However, protection does not matter if fish are not biting there. So I left for Rattlesnake Cove at SGI. I put in and the water was pretty low, so I paddled on the outside of the Oyster bars on the east side and paddle out to the end of the bars and drifted back with the high winds and seas. I ended up catching this nice 4.3 lb 23.4" trout on a Lime Green Skitterwalk. All my fish were caught on topwater, in 20-25 mph winds and 2-3 foot seas. I ended up with 4 trout that weighed 9.61 lbs and garnered 2nd place in the NFGFC tournament and biggest Trout. Not a bad day.

Burn that gas - that's a long way for a JBT tourny. Good job.

Good job jeff  All things considered...you probably didn't burn any more gas than the rest of the participants :D

Good one Jeff.
The seas in your picture look 2-3 inches---not 2-3 feet. ;-)

They probably are 2-3 inches because the water behind is at the boat ramp and they are 2-3 inches deep at that time.
