Big Trout Bobby and i hit the woods around 2 yesterday and sat on the ground and started grunting. We moved several times with no luck .It was 4:00 now and we were tired of walking so i climbed up my stand and Bobby walked to another spot to hunt until dark.I began grunting and at 4:40 a little buck showed up to check out the area.He left and i pick up something white headed my way.Much to my suprise it was two small dogs.I climbed down and whistled and called but they headed off to the bottom and began barking at something.I picked up my cell and called a friend to tell him that two of their dogs had passed by me,they were miles from home.I figured my chances of seeing a deer now was pretty slim but i didn't want to walk out and mess Bobby up so i climbed back up in my stand at sat for a while until it started raining hard so i climbed down again but the rain and wind let up and once again i climbed back up and grunted with my Primos buck roar i got from SGO.All of a sudden i see horns and alot of them to my right coming through the pines,i find a shooting lane and wait ,he stops in the lane 70 yards from me broad side and the 270 WIN goes off.By his reaction i know it's a good hit and i watch him run out of sight. Now the rain picks back up and all i can think about is not having a blood trail.I began shaking and finally dial Bobbys number and tell him the news.I run through the pines to the fire break to see if he had crossed over but didn't see any signs so i head back towards my stand when i see tines sticking out of the bushes.NO ground shrinking.
