I'm thinking of going on Sat. out of the lighthouse. I've only been a few times in Dec., but I'll share whatever I know. I didn't catch much up the St. Marks. When the air temps were colder, I was catching a lot of trout and a few short reds up the tidal creeks. The last weekend, I didn't catch anything in those same locations I went east of the lighthouse and caught trout on outgoing tide near creek mouths. I also hit mud shallow mud bottom for flounder, and caught and released a few about 12". My theory is they go where the water warms quicker. I've also been thinking of trying freshwater. Maybe Lake Jackson or Lake Carr. Haven't fished either in years. I don't know if there are duck hunters out there and wouldn't want to disturb them. Hope this helps.

Going Sat. will fish first grass outside of oyster bars if there where they were last week.
They were out past the creeks and bars on the start of the grass and caught a couple reds in the first bend of the creek.
Fished jigs with a crazy herky jerky motion very fast white was right last Sunday also some jerk baits fished a little different.
My partner did use the cork I did not we ran neck in neck most of the day I had big red he big trout. The reds came in a doubleheader.
I say throw what you have confidense in and if it don't work move they were tightly grouped last week you had to find them.

Last Saturday I had my daughters fishing new penny colored gulp jigs with very light jig heads. No hits. White seemed to be the ticket. 6" jerk baits fished slowly with no weight, and white grub jigs. We caught a lot of real little black sea bass (rock bass) on 6" jerk baits which was fun for the kids.
Caution: If you don't fish on the flats much, that fog this time of the year is nothing to play with. Have a GPS with route carefully marked and compass backup. And if not, stay close to the ramp. The last time I didn't mark my final leg into the lighthouse well, and I didn't know if I could ever find it. I knew where the lighthouse was, but I couldn't see it and went right past the turn in for it.
