Aucilla 12-26-08

Post by Welby »

Late report but here it is....What a neat day I had. Got up and started getting things together and got a call from DeeDee's son Josh (my soon to be step son) and he was not feeling well. So looks like I was heading down solo. I decided to head into Thomasville first and see if some tires had made it in that LuckySOB had ordered for my truck. Tried to convince Jared to get in the truck and go with me but he would'nt leave work. Some of you probably know the Ol'timer that works with Jared at the tire store, I ask him to go and thanks to having a generous boss he was able to head to the house and gather his gear. We got down to tha Aucilla ramp about 11 or so. I was able to listen to old fishing stories about when the Ol'timer and my Grandad used to fish together, it was great. So we head out the river with high hopes.

Fished high and low tring to find some trout, talked to others that were in the area and they didn't seem to be having any better luck than we were. From what I've been reading seem's the trout are further east or something ! Anyway, we keep chunking and I keep listening to more stories. Finally I try a old Redfish hole that has produced plenty of time before and got some satisfaction on a gold spinner bait. So with two nice Red's in the box we try for trout once again, Still no love. We decide to call it a day and head back to the house about 5.

Thanks LuckySOB for the fishng partner. Best slow day of fishing I've had in a long time.

Oh yeah, I really like the tires as well !!!

Nice report Welby, some of my best fishing trips are because of the company not the fish.

When I went last weekend the trout were in shallow, over mud bottom sunning themselves. Excellent report.
