What a day !

Took my time leaving this morning with great expectations of a fine day.. Weather report encouraging..
Left the house about five and got about 10 miles before I remembered I'd left my bug box so had to turn around and go back. Now its past 5:30 fore Im on the road for keeps.
Trip down was slow on account of the fog but I figured most of it would be gone by the time I got to St Marks. wrong !
Got boat in the water and was headed out a little after nine which was ok since I had planned to fish the incoming tide. Low was a little after 12.
Had to use the gps and saved tracks to make it down the river from Shell Is.on account of the fog. most of the other boats apparently doing the same cept one large offshore boat that was trying to pass everything on the river.
When I got to Sprague Is I turned west and headed cross sailcat alley. planned to fish some of the bars around Wakulla beach. Been sometime since I last fished that area..Fog was still heavy, most of the time visability a hundred yards or less...
Took awhile to navigate the low water around Pattys Is and the long bar north of it, by then it was nearly 11 and water was gone.
I just went in as close as I could and sat it out in the fog, threw a few times with a spook but nothing moving that I could see.
Around 12:30 sun tried to show but didn't make it. water started in pretty good so I headed for some bars I remember we had caught some reds behind. By the time I got there the fog had gotten so heavy again I could hardly see the front of the boat, much less the oysters and bank. fog probably as thick as I've ever seen it.
Decided to give it up and come in early and try again another day. I started idling south and got turned around and had a famous time getting out of there....
When I got up back to Pattys is. the fog was still there so I made my way back following my track in. fog never lifted. Visibility sometimes 25 yds.Biggest problem was my glasses.Couldn't keep em wiped off enough to watch gps track. got to the St.Marks and tried to make the cut between Sprague and the long bar on the west side of the river. took a couple trys to get past the bars and into the river and then 30 minutes or so to idle up the river to Shell Is. Had boat loaded by 5.
Tough trip and didn't catch a fish or even get a strike but guess you gonna have one like that once in a while. Best thing I didnt' tear nothing up !

:o

It was a total white-out on the "O" till around 11, then it lifted pretty decently. The river Bass wheren't exactly tearin it up neather  the good thing is that everyone was using good sense and idling every where they went till it lifted

Wow, that sure was some fog. we went out of keaton beach and it was sure thick.didnt lift till 3:30 or so. we stayed very inshore waiting for it to lift. when it finally did we had at least 10 boats around us all trying to do the same thing;not get run over.lots of people acting like it was the last day of a million dollar tournament, and the gate just dropped.guess i dont feel so bad about the fishing as we had some luck. a few fish, only 1 keeper.glad not to hear of any boat accidents. do NOT want to work on my day off.( happened before dont like it. ) maybe we will all have better luck next time.
