Hey everyone. I found this site about two weeks ago and decided to sign up. Lots of good info.
I have lived in Lynn Haven for about 6 years now and have exclusively fished in spring and summer but now want to try winter fishing. In reading this forum it looks like I need to head up creeks for the trout but I am not sure about the reds.
I have several spots over in East Bay I have found over the years that I can always catch reds in the spring and summer. I say always, really more like 80%. Nothing special about these spots, just some nice grass on the shore that extends out into the water and the reds are usually there. Is there any chance these reds will still be in these same spots in winter or will they also be seeking warmer water in creeks, etc.? I don't get to fish very often, maybe twice per month so each fishing day is very valuable, don't want to waste the day running to these spots if it is going to be a complete waste of time.

Welcome to the boards FlatCrazy. Yeah, those reds should be in the same spots when the weather is like it is right now. With this warm weather they have taken somewhat of a spring-time pattern. One of our local redfish experts is Reelslow, hopefully he will chime in with some advice. When the water cools, yes they will be up in the creeks. Right now is a very good time to go!

Winter is a great time to find redfish. Water temperature makes a huge difference on where they will be, but they are a very active cold water fish.

Welcome to the forum and I live more or less in Lynn Haven too
Yes is the answer to the reds for the most part...if your summer places are skinny in the summer odds are they are dry this time of year, so that is something to think of...another is grass or structure, if there is no grass or structure there will be no bait which is the reason they are in a certain spot. Fish have fins and move, if they are not there right now, but there is bait, they will move through sometime during the tide cycle.
