March 27,28 2009 is the 2nd Annual Forgotten Coast Kayak Fishing Classic.

Last year we had just over 100 participants and everyone catches fish. We appreciate all of he support that we received last year and look forward to everyone that can make it this year. The entry fee will be $50 just like last year and all proceeds will got to the Wakulla County Senior Services Center. We will have a Hobie Kayak for our Slam of Flounder/Redfish/Trout combination with the longest total length. There will also be a Redfish division winning a Heritage Redfish, Flounder division, and Trout Division with a kayak for 1st place in each division for longest fish in each division. Prizes will also be rewarded for 2nd (Adventure Technology Paddle and MTI PFD) and 3rd place (CDE Stakeout Pole) and there will be a raffle with over 100 raffle items. All participants will get one raffle ticket, and only participants will receive raffle tickets. (Participants can only win the best possible prize and only one. So if you the longest Redfish in the longest slam then you will win the slam, and the Redfish you caught will not be eligible for the Redfish division and the next longest Redfish will win the Redfish division.) There will be a bar b que dinner, chips and beer at the captains meeting, and a shrimp boil and band after the tournament with soft drinks. All proceeds go to Wakulla County Senior Services Center and they provide Meals on Wheels, public transportation, and before school day care services at the elementary schools for parents to drop their kids off early. We also recieved a brand new wheel chair that we will award a needy recipient identified for us by Wakulla County Senior Services Center.

We will begin registration on January 1, 2009 and the first 100 registrants will receive a Hobie bag will lots fo free gifts. We have 35 left since we opened registration and 65 have signed up at this point.

Steve, you can fish from your boat if you remove all motors and batteries before going out :o

Paddle craft only. Like Talltails said, pull off them motors. But serioulsly its a kayak and canoe tournament under human power only. Catch-Photo-Release with four divisions. One each for Redfsih, Trout, Flounder, and one for the slam of all three. Longest wins in each category.

Is there like a big winch at the landing to lift fat old farts out of the kayak after a hard days fishing ... JT sent me a PM and asked me to ask this question. :smt005

Freedom Hawk does make a kayak with a handrail. I sometimes have to roll off the side myself.

Looking forward to the tournament again was a really big crowd last year - if I can get a yak I am going to fish in it this year.

On a side note - spread the word on the flies we are auctioning off - http://www.bigbendfishing.net/phpBB3/vi ... 19&t=21281
