Does anyone fish with a Stella? I looked at one today and it is a really nice reel. I just can't see the $659.00 vs $179.00 for a Stradic. I was just curious if any of you guys has one or has fished with one. Or maybe someone has one they can give me?

I wouldn't mind test driving one....That said, I prefer the Spheros to the Stradic and it'll save you 50 bucks...Lots smoother and quieter reel..Looks like components would interchange with the stradic. I got a couple stradics but don't use them as much as the spheros.

I've been thinking about getting a Spheros but just getting started w/ Shimano. I know Capt. Dave Lear (Silver King) has a few of them. They're dang nice but for that kinda change they dang sure pretty better be.

I have a Stella 2500. It is the best spinning reel I have ever fished, period. Silky smooth and no start up, even-resistance drag system. I also fish a Sustain 2500 which is a great reel as well.

I have a friend who was pitching a home drunk one night with only his fishing catalogs for company. Long story short he bought 6 stellas of varing sizes with matching G-lumas rods. True story. He used to frequent this board. I'll send him a link and see if I can get a response..

I have 2 Stellas. They are great reels. I bought them back when business was booming. I will probably will them to whatever Great Grand child that loves to fish. Note that my only grandchild is only 9 months old so I expect them to last forever. However if one were stolen or dropped overboard it would be tragic. If you really enjoy great equipment get one. About all I could afford now is a snoopy como!

I have a 2500 and 3500 that I put on Loomis greenwater rods when I was given a huge gift certificate. I would never have bought them otherwise, though the home drunk might work. My advice is never touch one. The Stradics are fine. The Stellas are great, a little lighter which helps with the tennis elbow. I would not stretch to get one, but if you have the dough to spare or someone gives you one, you WILL enjoy the difference.

I use a Stradic/Loomis Greenwater and it has been great. Would have upgraded to the Stella.... if I had the $.

I have 4 stella's a 5000,8000,10000,and 20000 and there the smoothest spinning reels you can buy. Do you need a stella to catch fish? NO. They are however the most trouble free reels I own. The 5k is my inshore reel and the others see duty jigging and popping Yellowfin tuna.
