Keaton Beach flyfishing possibilities?

All,
New to the board, but not new to saltwater fishing or Keaton Beach. I do most of my fishing in the surf of Emerald Isle, NC, but am fortunate to be able to make an annual trek to Keaton to spend a week in May fishing with my buddy Dave (I think he's DDB on this board). We typically fish for trout and reds using popping corks w/ pins, jigs w/ a variety of plastics, and mirrolures.
I've recently begun to fly fish in the surf, and would like to find out if I could extend this type of fishing to Keaton this May for trout, reds, or both. Could someone please tell me the potential fly fishing at Keaton, good or bad? And if good, what patterns should I be tying up and how should I be fishing them -- blind casting, sight fishing, etc.?
Thanks.
Bil
