Dumb question / Trailer wiring ...?

Ok, 1st off ... please forgive my ignorance.... :-?
The lights on my trailer haven't worked since I bought it a few months ago. The light kit looks pretty new but they "no workie". The old owner said he replaced them just before he sold it to me.
I'm guessing it's the ground, the white ground was only wraped around a bolt on the jack.
So, Here's my dumb question ....

Where in the heck do you ground the tail lights on an aluminum trailer ? :smt017

Thanks in advance .

Probably more to it than just the trailer ground, anyway drill a small pilot hole in trailer tounge and add screw.

It aint that big of a deal cuz, at the most you are looking at $35.00 for a new kit. I would stick a screwdriver in the dirt to get a ground and atach the wire to rule out the ground. You sure the connections are all tight? at the lights

Ground the white wire to the trailer and you pick up ground through your trailer hitch connection. A rusty trailer ball or rusty hitch will stop the connection.
Get a volt meter set for dc volts and check your vehicle wiring for a good ground. Then wire your trailer wire directly to the vehicle ground through the adapter.

Take it down to Coastal Trailer and Hitch Hwy 98 in Medart. See Rex or Dan and they can fix you up for a little bit of cash. Last time I went by with a light problem it cost me 5 bucks.
These two guys know how to find the problem. It could be the trailer or the truck or the connectors. Who knows.
