Had a couple of good days with a couple of friends that don't get to fish too often. Fished Friday from 2-6 pm and Saturday from 8 to 4 pm. Caught a number of nice SS trout on Friday and a healthy 17" sand trout. Saturday the fishing was slower, at least during the time we fished. The water temps had dropped from 72 late Friday to 65 early Saturday, and the wind was blowin early. The wind eventually died down in the afternoon, shifted then picked up again. Made fishing conditions a little difficult early on, but we a had a better bite going when it was blowing. Wound up Saturday with 11 SST and a couple fo flounder. We also played with a number of nice blues. Appears to me they are a little earlier than usual. Didn't find any of the spanish some others are reporting. Most of our fish were caught bouncing the bottom with plastics and gulps. The fish didn't appear to want to come up for anything.

Great day of fishing. That's a big swing in temp, isn't it.

It was a tough weekend. Sounds like you managed to scrape a few up.

Saturday was an odd day. The wind was blowing hard early on making it tough to fish but we had a couple of good periods with good bites. The wind died down around 1 and so did the bite, the wind then switched directions and picked up again. The bite never came back strong in the afternoon on the small outgoing tide.

I could not catch one fish on Gulp at Stienhatchee, caught most of my fish on a 3 inch sashy shad blue back, white belly with my homemade 1/4 oz jig #4 mustad hook. I did catch several Spanish Mac past marker 1 in 6 to 10 foot of water, withen 50 to 100 yards of outside sand bar, on the mirrow lure jerk bait, blue back green belly, I would jerk twice and let it die, for a good 3 to 4 count. Had to go to those because< they got my 17 dollar lucky craft. Had to make a leader after that by doubling 15 lb braid. Caught the trout in grass, 3 to 4 ft. Caught some trout on the mirrow lure just to see if I could, but caught most on the little shad.. both the 3 and 5 lb trout came off the shad. Hope info. helps. Have bought a TFO fly rod and a MidArbor reel, thinking about going back Easter Weekend for a short trip. Never have fished with a fly rod, any tips as far as leader goes for Mac. I want to catch one of those on a fly rod. If I can just catch one it will be worth the trip for me, it is incredable how hard those fish fight.

TN - Thanks for the notes. Never tried the Sassy shad, but I imagine the Salt Water Assassin aught to have similar effects. I through plugs for a while, Catch 2000's and a Cordele Redfin, had a few bumps but no hookups. I kept thinking I was fishing it too fast, but with the wind moving the boat at a pretty good clip it was hard to let it sit. Surprised you got into the spanish. We caught a number of Blues (and got cut off a number of times), but no spanish. The spanish should contine to pick up with the big ones moving in. If you could get a Blue to take the fly you'd have a good time as well. Not much for the table but they give you a good run.
