Cape San Blas (Late May)

New to the forum, this looks like a good one. Personally I have never been to the Cape and the wifey has rented a beach house on the Gulf side about a mile from the State Park entrance. I will be dragging my Native Ultimate and the buggy whip for some action either in the surf or in the bay. Does anyone know how the fishing will be in Late May and any patterns that I should bring? Will Pompano be running in the surf in the mornings in May?

Thanks,
Cole

Pompano fishing will still be good in May and PSJ bay will also be a good place to fish. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Do you know of any good patterns besides clousers etc...

BTW - how big do they get in the surf? 5-10lbs?

6 lbs is going to be the upper range on pompano up here. Personally I've seen one in my life that big. Most are in the 2-3 pound range.

Everything will be biting. A favorite for my dad since the 80's at St. Joe has been a topwater deerhair deceiver/slider. Pink body, yellow tail. He has caught trout, reds, ladys, spanish, blues, and believe it or not, pompano on this fly. Have fun.
