Lanark Fishing Report 4/4
Posted: April 5th, 2009, 2:59 pm
Started out into the howling wind at about 9:45am and stayed behind the Lanark reef until the wind died down (about 12pm). Caught three keeper trout and three short trout behind the reef. After the wind laid down we headed east to find new ground. Fished Turkey shoals and surrounding area until about 4:00pm. Netted three more keeper trout and released about 12 more shorts. The water that was slightly clearer seemed to hold more fish, especially in the 3.5 - 5 ft depths. We used mostly Gulps in Nuclear Chicken (bought at SGO!) they seemed better than the white or penny colors. They were fished under cajun thunders. Fishing was not great but we did catch some so not to bad and considering the previous week of weather we were pleased. The bite also basically died after about 2:30 pm, the afternoon tides were pretty week. Water temps started out at a cool 57 degrees and rose to 66 degrees according to our depthfinder. After this cold front arrives I imagine they will stay down for a few more days.
