You be the judge -- clear coat paint damage

I need some advice. My wife's big cat reportedly laid on a neighbor's car hood and put a few light stratches in the clear coat. It's a nice mustang so owner was miffed. He came over and I apologized and want to make it right with the guy. Obviously, I'll make sure the cat never gets in his yard again. But I don't have money to throw away, but I want to offer to do the right thing for the guy's car. Any ideas on if it'll buff out or some treatment he can put on there, and estimated costs to make it look like new? Any advice is appreciated.
