Meeting Recap
April 2009
The club met at Beef’s on Thursday, April 2. Don’t forget about the St. Mark’s Yacht Club Tournament this weekend, April 18. The tournament is very family friendly. Registration begins at 5:30am at the club. The winner will weigh the heaviest stringer containing up to one of each of the following fish: specked trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, ladyfish, and sea bass. Non-cash prizes will be awarded to kids weighing the biggest of each of the aforementioned five fish. Weigh-in is at 3:30pm. There will be a raffle and a fish fry. Please contact the club at 850-925-6606 for more information. (It would be great if someone could post a link to their website or a flyer containing the official rules.)
The next NFGFC tournament will take place at the St. Joe Bay public ramp on May 9. Casey has negotiated discounts with the Mainstay and Port Inn.
Our speaker was Larry Jerkberg from HighRoller Lures and HighRoller Outdoor Adventures. HighRoller Lures makes wooden lures and spoons that won’t rust in the saltwater. You can purchase spoons and top-waters at Kevin’s in Tallahassee or online at
http://www.highrollerlures.com. HighRoller Outdoor Adventures also offers guided trips to the Amazon and other exotic locations. No, you won’t be eaten by piranhas. You’ll probably eat some of them (Larry says they’re delicious!), and you will catch some beautiful, hard-fighting peacock bass.
The owners of Ace Hardware in Woodville stopped by and gave everyone a 20% off coupon good on anything in the marine or fishing department.
Here are the meeting pictures.

As you can see, the club continues to grow and the raffle prizes just get better and better. If you missed April's meeting, we hope to see you at Beef's on Thursday May 7. The St. Joe Tournament is my favorite!
