Replacing hatch insulation

Anybody know the right material to cover the underside of the fish box and how to deaden fiberglass storage covers? Any installation ideas would be helpful also. None of my lids from livebait to anchor compartments have anything but glass on glass. This is on my '89 Aquasport rebuild and whatever was there is long gone. Too much noise to leave as is. Thanks.

I would think something like styrofoam spray type stuff would work and be pretty easy to put on but if it didn't I would imagine it would be a bear to take off.
You could also try styrofoam board and caulking to hold it on.
Let me know how it works out, I might want to try it.

They make rubber seals of various sizes/shapes just for this purpose. Measure the hatch flange where it meets the deck gutter to gauge the correct size. You'll probably want it at least one-half inch thick. The seal has an adhesive on the back side that peels away, similar to weather stripping for doors. Dry the mounting area thoroughly and then wipe it down with acetone to make good contact. After it is in place, close and lock the hatch overnight to keep pressure on to hold it in place.

You might check with Marine Liquidators in Perry, FL (they have a web store on eBay--850-223-3213). Crews Marine just south of Perry on Hwy 19 was the former Aquasport dealer, so they might have some still in stock as well. 888-476-4172

These seals will help waterproof the compartments and reduce wear/rattles.

Good luck.

Edited to add numbers.

Thanks a lot guys. I am familiar with Liquidators and will stop there when I come to go fishing. I am thinking about shooting some of the foam into the large air pockets along the sides to add floatation. I patched old holes, sanded, and painted the console this week. Also re-installed the railing. New electricals
have arrived and after cutting out holes in seaboard I will take to Central Ga. Marina for new wiring on Monday. That is the one thing that I don't want to try to DIY. Tower, leaning post, electronics ready to be re-installed. I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe it's not a train. The forum has been a huge source of support services. Thanks again to all who have answered my post. salute2
