Saturday Morning Success!

Decided to take advantage of this awesome weather we are having here in the Bluegrass State and head to the turkey woods on the 2nd weekend of the season. Arrived at our farm and started unloading and heard my first gobble.... although it was on the neighbors' farm, I still thought this was going to be a good day and the birds would be vocal. I'm running a tad late and it was getting daylight by the second so I decide to just sit down in a fence row before I even get to my intended spot.... No gobbling on our place, but some across the way on the next ridge.... you guessed it.....on the neighbors' farm...
..... Just as the sun was coming up I heard some wing beats and 4 hens fly right into my decoy setup, but as the hens were feeding towards my decoys here come the cows... They decided to investigate the decoys and start butting them around and then one cow picks up one of the decoys and slings it a few feet. I'm yelling at the cows trying to scare them off and all they do is stare at this bunch of brush that's yelling at them.......
Well, I get up and run the cows off and think to myself that this is going to be a bust..... I bring my deks back to where I'm setup and just sit and enjoy the morning.... There's a hot bird on the ridge over so I decide I'll try and call to him every few mins and maybe draw him over later in the a.m. After about 15 mins another hen feeds in front of me and moves on by. A few mins later I see some movement to my left and this bird comes in dead silent. Half struts a couple of times looking for the hen he had heard which was me!!! He gets nervous and starts to make his way outta there and I introduce him to some # 6's. Good 2yr old bird! Sorry to be so long winded....but it was a great a.m. and I'm still pumped!
