Chalk, Hunter, and I hit SJB early Saturday a.m. looking for trout and hoping for some more great sight fishing on the reds when the tide fell out that evening. Well, we found a few trout. Nothing to get excited over, but keepers none the less. Hopefully things will improve, but the trout fishing has been tough on the Bay.
We had approximately 3 limits of trout, with several throwbacks. Caught'em all on hard and soft jerkbaits.
We saw a fair number of redfish, but except for 1 that broke off on Chalk we couldn't get 'em to eat. Damnedest thing I've seen in a while. Frustrating as hell.
Enjoyed it Chalk. Can't wait til next time.

Yes
I enjoyed it BD...maybe them spot tails will act a little better in a few weeks...Good to see JT and TT in One Keepers boat & the Red Yellowfin running around
And to the guy with the new flats boat throwing a 15 ft rooster tail....trim her down, trim her down and that wild bucking bronco will will probably run better

yeah, feels weird too. it sucks wading through these weak pulling trout, even a small red knows how to put up a fight.

Get ready to run to Lanark. I'm thinking about borrowing a Lake and Bay.

Did the redfish break-off under the boat? I had never had that happen before but in the last month I have had it heppen twice.
Two hooked reds in the last month have charged my boat, broken the line (keel; trim tab) and gotten free.

Atticus, you need to practice your game management skills.

It happened at the hookset.
Atticus, the next time they charge the boat, stomp your foot a few times. It generally will turn the fish away from the boat.

Our one limit weighed more than their 3 limits combined.

True, that was a good trout ya'll had in the box. But, you better hope there's more of them around because the next time you see that trout she'll be wrapped up with peanuts and corn, and dipped in chocolate.
