It's put on by the Panacea Waterfronts Partnerships. They are trying to raise awareness for the businesses and landing, etc...

I just finished the Gangway for Rock Landing today. My delivery date to the site is about 2 1/2 weeks. I haven't heard a completion date though.

The Democrat said the dock would be open in August.

The Democrat's article also went on and on about how this new dock will allow commercial boats to run out of Rock Landing and it did not say a WORD about recreational boats... Dropped Crum's name...

The article got me worried...

Why worried? The main reason for getting the grant was because it would help the commercial fishers and like it or not, Ronald Fred Crum is the best friend that ALL fishers have in this area   I saw nothing that said it would be restricted to only commercial fishers :smt004

Ok, so dont yell loudly at me but I am the civil engineer on the project. The commercial pier should be done by the end of July. It will be really nice when completed. Its a mess down there right now but they should start driving piers next week and thing will start to take shape. We had to dredge alot of material out of there. Dont see the commercial component as a concern. It will help everyone, the commercial guys will have a good dock to unload on and the recreational guys are getting a new floating dock and a boat ramp wide enough to double launch assuming someone doesnt launch in the middle. The new pier does have 11 boats slips that are large enough to handle commercial boats and it is my understanding they will be rented by the county. I will see if I can upload a site plan later.

Also the ramp will be 3 feet deeper at the end and approximately 20' longer than the existing one.

Please come fish the tournament it will be good for the businesses in Panacea. We have a boat in the Recreational Division already. The ramp will be open for the tournament and there will be a temporary floating dock for everyones use.

Ok fire the away with the questions.

Jumper,
Thanks for the insight- I'm ready for that thing to get done.
I'm missing my late afternoon trips and dinner at Hookwrecks- its not the same when you have to drive up.

I met a guy down there who said the commercial guys were complaining about the height of the dock.
Glad to hear that there will be a floating section.

I'm checking my schedule to see if I can make the tourney.

Bman,

The height of the pier is a hot potato. We did get it lowered 18" from the original design. I hope that makes everyone happy. The pier will be over 212' long. The floating dock is on the boat ramp side, but far enough out that it wont get in the way of the ramps. Yea we all need to go to Hook Wrecks right now to help them stay busy during this time the construction is going on. Plus nothing like beer on that deck.
