Worked all day Saturday prepping "Marine's Dream" for her first trip out in 2009. Tire change -- check, spare tire mounted -- check, greased trailer bearings -- check, new fish finder/gps combo installed -- check, jack plate troubleshooting and fuse replaced -- check...etc... made for a LONG Saturday.

Sharkman met me on Sunday with both of us holding our breaths to see if all the work would pay off... we were hoping for calm winds and a long ride out to deeper water but wasn't meant to be. Choppy water was as dark as I've ever seen it. Sharkman and I joked whether it looked more like coke of coffee, before I settled on molasses.

Tried fishing just a few minutes in 3' to 5' with gulps and jigs with not even a single bite... not even pinfish hits. Sharkman warned me that he REALLY wanted to make sure we didn't get skunked as he was on a mission to take a picture of a fish with "Stanley", a paper cutout lil' dude that belongs to two children that are family friends and have pictures of Stanley in different settings. Having closely read recent posts I wasn't surprised at the effect of the flood of fresh water so we ran away from the river mouth to depths between 7' and 10'. Instantly starting getting hits but wouldn't exactly say the flats were on fire. Just the occasional trout here and there, with a few trash fish thrown in the mix. Did at least get our "Stanley" photo mission accomplished and released a couple of nice trout.

Around lunch we decided to run in close and try for a few reds. PAYDIRT! We both make our first casts and have a double  End result, 10 nice reds with only one under the slot.

Good day fishing and glad to report the boat ran great. Had a GREAT dinner this evening!

Can't wait to get a day with just a little less wind.

With a dozen grands and several of them "flat Stanley" fans....I'm well aware of many of his exploits! :-D

Thanks for report and pics! Please comment on drift characteristics of your boat and room and stability as compared to more traditional 8' beam skiffs. Thanks! I think I've seen your boat
running at a distance and it sure looks great!

RHTFISH, I wasn't aware of the "Flat Stanley" story... just googled it and found out the history on Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Stanley

Have to say, though, after his trip out with me and Sharkman we've renamed him "FLATS Stanley" :-D

I'll post again soon as time allows on the Panga
