Two fishing buddies and I headed out of Albany Sunday morning at around 7:30am got to the boat ramp at 10:00 am Went out to the river mouth headed east about 3 miles set up a drift caught 3 18 inch trout off the bat and the several shorts along with a few sail cats and 2 or 3 snot cats 15 to 20 dookie fish . Moved to a little deeper water trying to get into some salty water but decided to stop while we were ahead because the moderate chop was a little rough on the 16 bass tracker.Set up another drift aqnd caught 3 more keeper trout and a few blues. My partners were using gulp natural and new penny.I was using saltwater assassin rootbeer sea shads with a chartreuse tail. They did catch a few more fish than I did but,Their hands still smell like rotten sardines (mine don't). 3:00 pm took one of the guys back to the boat ramp so he could go home ..Me and Jeff decided to stay and try the afternoon bite and it payed off ..We went out to the bird rack and started throwing topwater and had a blast I caught a good sized blue and several trout and he caught a nice 23 inch trout on topwater. Saw something tearing up some bait fish, threw to it and as soon as it hit the water BAMMM!!!!.a Jack was on the other side of the hook. All and all had a ball..headed back in around dark on a low low tide which was ok we were going to creep back in and were staying at the park ..But it was even better for the folks in the pontoon boat with a blown motor in the mouth of the river we towed them back in that is another story all together.I might post on it in the boating section later. Anyway we got back to the ramp at about 11:00 pm loaded up and went to bed.
total for the day
11 keeper trout (several shorts) all keepers were from 16 to 23 inches
5 snot cats
5 sail cats
4 blues
too many lady fish
1 hard fighting Jack Cravelle

Jeff's dad met us at the river at 5:00 am .Ate breakfast Put in at 7:00 am ran out a mile from the tripod NOTHING. Moved out deeper caught a few shorts and one or two keepers.Moved out deeper by now we are getting beat up pretty good the wind is pushing us 1.4 mph and as fast as 1.9 mph at times acording to the GPS.We catch a few here and there a lot i mean a lot of shorts .We put seven in the boat barely legal maybe 15 1/2 inches was the biggest fished until 1:00 pm and decided to go after some reds.We went back to the mouth of the river and fished the grassy point to the east and 3rd cast Jeff gets hooked up on a 19 inch red using gulp new penny, wind is still blowing. We make another pass by the point again and Wham Jeffs dad picks up a 22 inch red.We make another pass by the same point and I pick up a 24 inch red.We head in at about 2:30 pm load up the boat take a shower and head on to the house.
