Its been about 30 years since Ive fished Econfina with my father. Some co-workers and myself are going this weekend.. May 9th. Can someone reconmend a hotel that is priced reasonable close to Econfina? Do they sell live shrimp at the Econfina boat ramp and if not can someone tell me a good bait store near by? Can someone also tell me how much live bait shrimp is running now? We used to use the old salty dog jigs in white and pink under popping corks a lot... is this still a good choice or have things changed in the last 30 years?
I appreciate any help.. like I said.. its been a while for me going flats fishing at Econfina.
By the way.. we are from Albany and Leesburg , GA.
Thanks.... Sam

Try here.

JR's is just west by the Aucilla River, they sell shrimp and other tackle.
Good luck & tight lines.

If you haven't seen it in 30 years you won't believe it....some changes good....some not all good! No cattle gap, Econfina Hilton or original restaurant and later bait shop building, etc.
Tap water is BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We do now have boat ramps which is a plus! Enjoy!

Thanks guys.. I called the hotal at Econfina and they are already booked for this weekend so Im still looking for suggestions on a hotel that is both close and reasonable. Im also looking for a good bait shop to pick up some live shrimp and tackle Saturday morning before we head out. Im sure I can find both by driving around but figured I would save time by asking for suggestions from guys on here who know the area well.
Thanks again... Sam

JR's on hwy 98 just past the Aucilla river has shrimp and other tackle, drinks, snacks, fuel, etc.
About rooms.............call Bonnie at (850) 584-3026, she handles the rooms for the state park and has some other rentals if those rooms are full.
