we fished the cut and jetty quite a bit. the trout were blowing up in the surf and cut! pompano are coming to a close but i did manage to catch a small one. the trout were all other the place. the first night we got there we unpacked and that night we were pounding 17"+ trout on greenies. you get tired of cating troutafer a while. I met a guy that was staying at scooner landing said he caught a 5lb trout wading the surf. step dad cvaught a 32" red and mom caught a couple reds and I caught a couplle reds in the cut. they moved in one day and disapeared for the rest of the week except the prowers on the beach side.
plenty of flounder too. saw some golioth too. oe guy was brighing in a keeper mango snapper and right when he pulled it in to the rock edge and about a 40" golioth slammed it. needless to say he lost his snapper

let me tell you somthing about the bay around the plantation...

every evening and morning reds were tailing on the flats behind the house. I mean if the reds wernen't tailing something was weird. and you didn't have to wade far. just steps from the dock you had reds tailing all around you. it was my first time discovering tailing reds on my own(without a guide). the first day i fished the bay side i was so used to never locating tailing I thougt they were large mullet.

at low tide. you walk out about 300yrds onto a beautiful rich 8" deep flats with a mixure of healthy thick grass, sprinkles of oysters and patches of sand and lots of hermet crabs and ble crabs. anyway every evening aroud 4:00 to dark at low tide there woud be so much bait in the water. it was almost like a bait run. at low tide the fish would push the bait up on the shallow flats edge like clock work.one of my inlaws caught a 27" trout that he released...if there are 27" trout around there are 30"+ trout too. one afternoon i was pitching live pilchards under docks and had a fish on that I coun't pull out of the dock. I think it was a decent gator. I also saw a guy in apalachicola right outside the mainstreet coffe shop and he showed me a 5lb trout. could sgi/apalachicola be a sleeper gator trout destination? .......shhhhh
no real fly rod action to speak of. I throw so many flies at the reds till my back hurt but still no takers except a few good swirs. but i did manage to catch a 5" trout, a lady fish and couple pinfish on fly.
