Take a Kid fishing May 16

Troutrent and I met our kids at the Fort Saturday morning. We pulled away from the ramp about 7:45. Headed down near Grey Mare Rock with a couple 14 year old young ladies and Johnathon, their chaperone.
About 10 minutes into the drift one of our girls puts a nice 18 inch trout in the boat. No more keepers on this drift. We move down alittle towards Shark Rock. Soon another nice trout in the boat. A few pinfish and small trout follow. We move again to Redfish Point area.
The water is very stained. We mangae to catch 10-12 catfish and then the trout turn on. With Cajun Thunders flying we put 9 more trout in the boat all measuring 18-20.
Johnathon was having a hard time hooking up on fish long enough to get them to the boat. One of our girls noticed this and said "let me see your rod". She took his Zebco 33 and pitched it about 20 feet from the boat, popped the Thunder one time and a nice 18 inch trout inhaled the bait. She cranks it in, hands him his rod back and says "that is how you do it".
Hot dogs and potato salad was a welcome meal back at the dock. All the kids were having a ball showing off their catch and telling their fish stories.
I will be back next year.
Hope to see some of you guys there.
