Fished solo out to 120 feet, water blued up a little at 110'. Wanted to do some trolling since the seas were 3' all morning, but the weedlines were poorly formed and spaced close together.
Could not find any live bait today. Caught about 50 red snapper in 90', boxed 2, kept one 26" gag, all on dead bait from last trip. Did not catch one red grouper all day??

I was pulling in one 20" gag when the porpoises showed up. Twice on the way up the gag stopped, couldn't budge him. When he finally came in the boat, he had porpoise tooth marks running down his back. He didn't make it far after the release.

Wind layed down nicely for the ride back in. Should be slick out there today.

Sawbones, thanks for the report. I plan on going out of Cbelle on the 20th, did you try any shallower spots? Or is the 100 ft mark still the line.

90' was as shallow as I got. Surface water temp was 85. This time of year I seem to do better in deeper water.

Thanks for the info. By the way my neighbors in Cbelle keep telling me, boy when the water cools off the big grouper will come in closer. What time of year might that be? Im usaully deer hunting but this will be my first fall with a offshore boat. So Ill be expected to supply camp with fresh fillets for the grill.

We stoped in around 50 foot of water on the way in and picked up our only Gag "and a nice one at that", but I can't tell ya where or in what direction other than out of C'Belle I weren't the Skipper and it was not my #, there for, I don't know where we was at but we could see St. George Island

Sea Fox, I usually wait until the water temp gets down into the low to mid 70's before I'll spend much time chasing them inshore. That's not to say they can't be caught this time of year, a lot of people do. However, it has been my experience that you have to wade through a lot of shorts to do so.

Thanks again guys for the info Ill be watching the water temps. And wevans on your next trip out of Cbelle if you see a sea fox cc with twin suzuki fourstrokes zig zagging around the 50ft mark, that wont be me
