With the good success we had last weekend with Ddb, I though we would go after them again. We caught some fish but the action was not red hot like last weekend. We certainly worked hard on every fish we brought home. Perhaps it could have something to do with the 85 degree water temperature - it was 75 degree last Sunday. We have no luck on hardbait, plastic or gulp, and the hits we got from pinfish were drop more than 30% of the time. The trout were just not feeding aggressively until late afternoon when we had to head in.

Started the day at high tide with plenty of action but mostly from spanish (many cut-off), bluefish, ladyfish and this, a hound fish:

ended up being a spanish

a pretty nice one at that

Nice net job. He's becoming quite a helpful deckhand.

Dave ended up with a nice over slot fish

The best fish of the day

guessing about 25'' or so

We brought home 15 trout with 4 over slot (4 person on board) and a spanish

We were fishing in mostly 3-4' water, started fishing at the south bird rack and went almost to the second bird rack. There were a lot of boats fishing near us, including many that cutting us off or ended up stopping to fish right in front of our drift, so I decided to run north and we finished the day at Spring Warrior - must have ran 35 plus miles. Its a day like this that make you appreciate all the days when the fish are bitting.

:o Breambuster you are killing me. We went Sunday and only brought home 1 trout. What are you doing? Do you only fish with pinfish? Catch them on a pole or trap them? HELP!!! :smt011

You did a lot better than we did. Were you up towards Piney Point?

Nice work, again, BreamBuster. You are the Man in that area. Your slow days are very good days for most folks.

Thanks for the kind response yall. I am by no means an expert and a lot of what I know fishing the Keaton area I owe it to Pat McGriff and from spending a lot of time on the water experimenting.

We were way south of Piney Point, almost ended near the second south bird rack before running back north. One suggestion I can offer is to run and gun when the fishing is slow. I learned that from walleye fishing from up north.
