I'm pretty new to fly fishing and haven't done any saltwater yet. I'll be in Panacea next weekend and I'm bringing my fly gear with me. I've got some clausers and some poppers on the way. The spanish are supposed to be thick in the bay now so what fun it would be to hang a few of those. My question is; how can I catch spanish or other toothy critters? shoud I rig a piece of wire from my leader to the fly? Or should I get a leader with wire already on it? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd put about 6" of wire in front of my fly..Spanish are not going to be too shy of it...and you're unlikely to land one without a leader in front of fly tippet..

Surflon Micro Supreme by American Fishing Wire is knottable. Works pretty good.
