been reading a lot about grouper fishing in the Keaton beach area.....figure I should go ahead and ask some of yall about some of the basics..

If I will be using Mann's stretch 30's, and my rig will be about 50# braid with a 150# swivel and 4 to 8 foot of 80# mono......

what depth range should I target for this setup????

what speed in mph should I try?????

since I'm new to this type of fishing, I will probably start around the public #'s like the crane and start searching outward....

I have heard some grouper will come up to the baits but are you wanting the lure to "bump" the bottom like bass fishing, I know I will be searching for relief and live bottom, but just wanted a good "average" depth and speed to start with.....if I catch one or get a hit, I can always go back and drop a live pinfish or squid down to the bottom

as always, any input will be appreciated....

I'd go with stretch 25's first and shorten them leaders to about 4' . Also a large swivel seems to help keep the grass off the lure somewhat. I'd troll at 3 1/2 to 4 mph...Drop em down when you get to 18' and troll till you get to 30. If you are around the public numbers you should oughta get some strikes..
