mashes sands 6-8

Post by konrad »

Took the wife and two friends (Tyler & Lauren) out Sunday for a little snapper fishing. Left Mashes Sands landing at 7:15. There was a little chop and some fog but within an hour the fog lifted and the sea’s became flat. Headed out to the first spot in 50 feet. I was at this same area on Wednesday and limited out pretty quickly so I thought we would give it another shot. Sure enough the snapper were still there. They weren’t as thick as the other day but we managed to get our 8 fish limit in about an 1 ½ hours. Since the tackle was down sized for snapper we did get broken off by a few grouper. After we completed our limit we decided to troll for some kings. Nothing around the 50 foot number so we headed back towards buoy 26 since that is where the bait seems to be hanging out. Started trolling over some hard bottom about a mile off and pick up a few teenagers with little effort. Lauren hadn’t been feeling too hot all morning so we decided to call it a day. Got back to the landing around noon.

Nice trip. Hate the wife wasn't feeling well, but the fresh fish will make it worth it.
