Stopped at the 28 buoy for bait, still holding hardtails and cig minnows. Also got 1 legal black snapper on the sabiki.
Got freight trained one time at the Mica, then they shut off. Went out to 150' and found the cobalt blue water we've been looking for all year. Worked some hard bottom for a while, boxed 2 reds and a gag. Current was ripping, kept 1 engine in reverse full time just to slow the drift.
With a few in the cooler, we set out to troll a weedline we'd seen earlier. However, the wind had switched and the line had begun to fragment. Trolled it anyway and got a 20# bull on the top line. Trolled back down it and picked up his 12# cow. Only one hit on the downrigger, a snake king. But, when we got him boatsidesomething much larger had cut him in half??
Sloppy 50 mile ride back in. Water temp 83.5, blue water started about 5 mi SW of the Mica.
