Additional LEOs on the water-make sure your rig is in order

Hey Folks,
There are usually additional LEOs on the water during Scallop Season, but it looks like there are some special iniatives underway as well. Just wanted give everyone a heads up to make sure you have all your safety items and are following protocol. Boating is expensive enough without picking up citations.
I would imagine with budget cutbacks there probably won't be a lot of descretion used if you aren't up to code.

I am safe. I do not drink while boating. I only drink while fishing.

I had to pay a citation back in April and was informed that ALL fines and court costs were going to be increased to offset the state budget being set by the legislature this past session. In other words, they were spending money now that they count on making in the future through these increases

That came straight from the Wakulla County Clerks office....

Don't get me wrong, I'm starting to learn that area and actually enjoy it but7 am is a little late for folks that drive 2 hours to get there. Guess I'll buy my ice and drinks in Moultrie.

The man gave me a warning the other day for not having three inches between the FL and the reg number and then another three inches between the reg number and the manufacturer code. Then he took off in his boat that had evenly spaced numbers. When I asked him about that, he said that's why I just got a warning. Don't get me wrong, I ain't mad, I really appreciate the job they do. Just saying.
