I have my second Garmin fishfinder/depth machine that has farted out on me in two years. Any ideas about one that is better??? All I want is one for the bow on BB. I have a nice color model for the console.

I'd check out Eagle (the cheap Lowrance) for a simple, cheap unit or Lowrance.

lowrance 520c 522c igps or 525 are all great units....have a friend that has the new humminbird with the SI(side imaging) and I have seen many many depth finders over the years, all the way back to the paper graph days....and all I can say is it is simply amazing!!!!!! adds a whole new way of looking for structure and bottom contours...the small unit is just that, small...but still amazing to look at.....have seen old tires on the bottom 30 yards to the side, and they look like tires!!!!!

I am happy with my Humminbird. I have read countless posts on people having problems with Lowrance units with the latest units being bad about water intrusion.

Lowrance (and Eagle) quality and customer service has steadily gone downhill. Sold lots of them at BW. Had alot come back or go back to LEI for service. Wait times even on LEIs dealer line had gotten to be 30 minutes or more. Garmin is still far above all others for product quality and customer service from my personal dealings.
If I had two units crap out in two years, I would be on the phone with Garmin to find out what they were going to do about it. I still think they are the best quality out there for the money, and in my experience, they stand behind the product.
