3000, 4000 or 5000?

species targeted?

Sorry...picked up the computer because I forgot to put that. Almost exclusively trout and reds out of Lanark, Aucilla and the like. All inshore.

3000 because it holds more line than the 2500 and its the same weight and size. Great 15lb drag system and you'll be surprised how big a fish you can catch.

Yeah, the 3000 is the right size for most inshore sticks in the medium power. Maybe upsize to the 4000 if rod is MH or H.

I've got a 4000, but wish I had gotten a 3000.

I've got two 3000's and a Matthews fishin styx 7'med action very hard to beat!

I was going to say 2500, but if the 2500 and 3000 are the same weight then I would go with the 3000. I tend to fish with the smallest lightest reels that I can get away with... you can always follow the fish if need be.

They're both the same weight, something like 8 or 9 oz, I think. The 3000 also has a bigger T shaped handle where as the 2500 has the knob.

I have 2 2500's and a few 4000's and I love both sizes. The 4000 is a great reel because you can do anything with it. If I was going to buy one today it would be a 3000. My favorite reel is a 2000FG that I bought in 1999 and it is still kicking, if it had an odometer I am sure it would have 300,000 miles on it.
