MAN what a day 9-19-03

I figured that the best medicine for me at this point was some good ol salt spray
Got to the ramp at Mashes Sands around 7, launched and headed out. When I got out past the Oyster bars, I fired up the GPS, then fired it up again...... NO GO
OK, I have my compass and a general idea of where ta head to, so the adventure begins. Got out ta 35 foot and dropped the stretch 30 overboard, a few minutes later, first Spanish is in the box
Drop it back over and 10 minutes later , a 20" Gag pops by ta say hello, go back over the same general area with no luck "I really missed the GPS at that time"
Continue on for about an hour with no bites, then my drag start ta scream like a 6 year old that's stubbed a toe
we fight for about 10 minutes and I ready my net
when it gets close enuf for me ta see him, I say OH SH!!, I think I hade best find that GAFF
well it turned out ta be a 40 1/2" KING
and I think I did a pretty good job with the gaff "considering that it was my first time"
Well I'm running out of steam by this time, so I take a heading for the ramp and continue trolling. I've lost all track of time by now and am just relaxing on the ride in when my drag screams again, this fight was shorter, but so was the fish, a 25" Gag
Off again and a short time later, the drag screams again
then quits
I reel in and my front hook and HOOK RING are gone
"gotta talk ta Mullet about that". Tie on another stretch and take off again, a short time later, drag screams again, King # 2 comes aboard
I'm thinkin that I really need ta go home, but have ta drag just a little longer
after a short time Spanish #2 comes aboard and I am totally exhausted, so I head back in for my 30 minute ride
All in all, not to bad for 3 hours of trolling
On my makeshift hanging board

On the cleaning table "it's 24" wide"

Hook missing from stretch
