Apalachicola fishing help

Post by Snapperlr »

I have been asked to take some folks fishing out of Apalach or Easpoint. We will be looking for Reds and trout and are fishing in a Hewes flats boat. Any tips for that area would be great as I don't usually fish that far west.

Thanks.

Not much grass flats. Some of the spots to try are behind LSGI and and the grass flats east of the State park entrance. St. Vincent Dry bar and Bird island are two more spots the locals like. That place is the most tide dependent place I have ever fished. Slack tide, you might as well pack up and leave. Lady fish are everywhere. I might have hooked one or two in the shower!

Rattlesnake cove around St George Island, throw gold spoons or topwater and have a great day. Don't be afraid to fish 2-3 feet of water with no structure. It works good over there.
