Newbie Question

I'm looking to start dabbling in saltwater flyfishing. Anyone have any suggestions on a starter rig for our inshore species in this area? I don't mind spending a little bit of money. I just don't want to over or under spend on something I may not like in a few months.

I'd check out the 8wts at Sportsmans whse while they got some left...got Reddingtons, TFO's and a couple Loomis..as of this afternoon. Plus some reasonable reels..Talking bout 200 bucks less line...I'm waiting till them Lamson reels to come down some if they aint gone by next time I go by.

Look for an 8wt....cheapest thing to do is borrow a fly rod & reel
A few casting lessons will go a long way in helping you enjoy the sport...I spent a few frustrating weeks trying to learn on my own.

I think you need to learn how to catch reds, trout, flounder, jacks, and tarpon on a spinning reel before you move on to fly fishing.

Try the TFO NXT series "Lefty Krel Signature".
I've got the 9footer with reel and it's a great setup.
Most of my fly fishing is freshwater on the Chipola River, and the red-bellies are a lot of fun in the early morning.
