Tincan's back is out (from a part time adult business (carpentry)). So - I was not going to fish...schemed on a few plans and then Jumptrout found out I was in need of a partner .

Tournament day consisted of the following events:

• Running along HWY 98 and I hear this metal clanging sound at 65 mph. All six wheels are still turning - keep going.
  At the ramp the frame that holds the fender on the trailer is gashed and bent. Note to self things always get broken when fishing with Jumptrout.
• Trout fishing was the pits - now that is out of the way
• Jumptrout says, "maybe we should have brought some beer to break the monotony." I say, " I can take my clothes off." Jumptrout says, "Nevermind."
• Jumptrout says, "Do you have any pizza?" I say, "For what?" Jumptrout says, "To break up the monotony." I say, "No, but I do have some KY jelly." Jumptrout says, "Nevermind."
• Jumptrout says, "Where are these acres and acres of redfish?" I say, "You just caught one. I bet your disappointed a Christmas aren't you?" Jumptrout says, "Yes."

Enough cliches of the day - Jumptrout was a real trooper...he even managed to snag a few catfish and stingrays in the butt. He even managed to catch a few 12 inch trout on cutbait . I made a command decision around lunch that we and trout were done for the day and we went in search of redfish. Jumptrout put the first keeper in the boat. Then I finally got in the zone and started reeling them in - catching one that was pretty close to the 27" mark. Jumptrout finally came up the front of the boat looking for a spoon and I gave him one. We ran out of time with the fish just starting to bite good.

It came to my attention how everyone's holes become Jumptrout's holes. He fires up his GPS and sits it down. When we get to a spot - I asked him if this was one of his spots? He picks up his GPS and mashes the "mark" button - pausing a few seconds he says, "Yes."

Chalk, I wouldn't give out any more of your secrets. Sorry the trout didn't bite, at least yall were out there.

How can you go fishing with JT and not have beer or pizza?

Next time I'm gonna stop at the fish market

I will report the truth in a day or 2.
Right now I am still trying to get over the humiliation.

Awesome- you guys needed a film crew following you.

I was told I had to keep the fishing location secret.Turns out I have fished that area many times in years past. The only difference is it is wall to wall houses now. There was one house when I used to fish it.

The reason I was told to keep it secret was that it holds acres and acres of redfish and you have to get a bait past them to catch the upper slot trout.
First fish in the boat was a tail hooked stingray. Next was a tail hooked catfish followed by a neck roped croaker. It sure is tough fishing in acres and acres of reds and trout.
I kept telling my partner we needed to move deeper to cooler water. Sure enough there was a 12 foot gheenue braving 2 foot rollers out deep making drift after drift and pulling in trout. My partner said he must be using shrimp. Soon a kayaker came paddling by and said he was going for more shrimp and would be back because the big trout bite was on. We stayed in acres and acres of trout and reds in 12 inches of water. My partner kept emphasizing how shallow his Ranger boat would float.
I personally think it would have floated just as well in the deeper water where all the acres and acres of trout were.
After he put half a dozen reds in the boat he said I should switch to a spoon. I had none with me. He said look in the console and pick one. I tied on a nice pink Captain Mikes. On the first cast he said reel it up. Time to go if we are going to make the weigh-in.
Hopefully TC's back will be healed and Butch will be through bream fishing by August 8.
