Jacksonville 7/10/09

I was asked to round up some fresh fish for a fishfry on Sunday, and managed to get a few spots on the Majesty partyboat.
Couldnt pick a better day to go offshore with light wind and overcast sky.
and then we saw this
We stayed busy all day catching beeliners and some nice fish as well. Here're some of the highlights:
Jenn had a nice one on for a while but the line broke.
She did get her revenge with a nice gag
Tao with a nice surprise - a beautiful scamp
Calvin took high hooks with 2 snapper and a mango (yes he beat the old man today), along with 7-8 beeliners. Here's an action shot of him fighting a snapper
Nice to see red on the deck

I am ashamed to admit that I didnt catch any keeper snapper, only ended up with 2 mangos but one of them was a nice fish
My crew and the catch up at the dock. I think we'll have enough for the fish fry.
There were about 20 heads of snapper on the boat, most were in the stern box. The biggest snapper was probably about 14lb or so:
Also, I believer there were 3 greys, the biggest of which probably was 16-18lb and half dozen of reef donkeys, all were full grown. Here's one caught by Mark's son.
I sincerely hope that we could continue to enjoy this kind of outing in the future but with the new regulations from the NMFS, I am not sure if its worth the $700 we spent on lodging, food/drinks, and boat ticket and not able to keep any fish.
