Down to about 50 round-cut trunk sections from three oaks I lost late last year to a tornado in Lloyd. Half the rounds are red oak and the other half are water oak. All small limbs and rotten sections have been burned. The large rounds are good solid heartwood and I'm offering them free for the taking... got all I can burn in 10 years already split/stacked and I am ready to have the yard FINALLY clean.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

Give me an idea of the dia on the trunk sections.

Bman, I talked to Pam after reading your message and she said that you must have recently started smoking crack!

Sir Reel, few smaller sections have 8 to 9 inch diameters but the bulk of the trunk sections have diameters between 14 and 16 inches.

Checked last night and I have 18 sections of water oak left and 25 red oak. The red oak is a bit less knotty than the water oak but both burn great.

Should add a note that the count is going down each day. I've got a burn barrel I've been putting to good use as I'm working to have all the wood gone by mid-month before company comes a calling. The pyro in me enjoys the burning but the frugal side of me is saddened at burning tons of good wood I know could be better used keeping someone warm this winter.

Thanks for your reply. I should have included this question originially. I do have a fireplace but it is a smaller type. How long are the sections? I'm trying to determine if they would need to be cut down in length or just split. I would be primarily interested in the Red Oak I believe. Thanks again.

Sir reel, you would likely need to cut the sections again. I have a fairly big fireplace so cut the sections about 22" long, though some are a bit shorter and some a bit longer. And just being honest I had so much to cut all at the same time due to the tornado that I made longer cuts than I normally would just to take it a bit easier on my old trusty chain saw.
