have a 2003 25hp 4 stroke, has been very, very good to me, until I took it out of town fishing. Idles fine, very slow speed no problem, but when I gradually give it more gas from very slow it stalls. If I gun it real fast, it "jumps" over the stall and runs fine, in fact no problems wide open. Plastic gas tank, vent is open, fresh gas with stabilizer, and water seperator (filter changed April 09'). Three things, I did encounter a ton of rain when heading out of town and the pump bulb seems to lose its prime and not "stay hard" and I used a larger and older gas can for when I plan on lots of running around.

Sounds like the slow speed jet has a little gunk in it.The first thing I try with something like that is to take the air filter off "so that I can manually choke the carb" crank the motor, rev it up and choke it by hand "while keeping the throttle open" till it almost shuts down, then let it recover from the choking. I sometimes have to do it 2 or 3 times before the motor operates correctly again "the suction/vacuum created by the manual choking usually sucks the trash out of the carb"

I noticed the plunger on the carb has a small tear and just before is starts to depress is when the motor stalls. Could this be the cause of my problem?
