Power Pole ?

Post by sundown »

Last sat went to St Marks and mostly creek fished. Had one of the best days on reds yet. However, when tide was coming in hard and wind out of the south, it was impossible to control boat and fish too. Decided time to put a power pole on it..I toyed with doing this last year when I bought the boat but never did anything about it.
Talked to Flint River Marine this morning and Davis said to decide what I wanted and let him know and he'd get me one and put it on. Question is, what all do I need ?
Figure I'll get the pro series 8' unit. Do I need remote control and foot control ? Adaptor plate or transom mount ? Amy other add-ons ? all imput would be appreciated.

I dont have any personal experience with a power pole "YET", however the only draw back on the remote i have heard about is leaving it in your pocket while driving, while accedentally hitting the down while driving.

Bracket will mean less holes in your boat. Remotes are nice...but not $250 nice...I haven't got the remotes for mine....next boat will though. Putting the power pole on a main switch will allow you to kill the power and keep from letting it down.

From looking at specs a little more I think I'll probably go with the 8'sportsmas series. It says its good for a 20' boat up to 2600 lbs. Mine is 20' and sure dont weigh that much. Plus get the adaptor plate as I sure don't want no more holes than I already got in boat.. Going to get the remotes for sure and put a switch on console to kill it when not fishing....

Talking to several owners including Heath Sanders , I'm gonna go with the pro series, remotes and the adaptor plate mount. This is spose to be the best in the long run. On order so ought to be able to try it next weekend. From fighting current and trolling motors it oughta equate to several more fish a trip..
