LABOR DAY @ WEST BAY
Posted: September 8th, 2009, 3:59 pm
Left Havana @ 4:45 Sat. morning, picked up the preacher in Quincy @ 5:00 and headed out. My last 2 trips gave me nothing to write home about so I decided that I would try taking the preacher. I figured if buying the precher a six pack of Bud Light couldn't make the fish bite, I was in real trouble. Stopped in Blountstown @ the only store that was open, bought some beers, a couple of cokes, and a honey-bun. Got 2 the landing right about 6:40 Quincy time and headed out. Spent the first 2 hours throwing top water which resulted in a couple of short trout and 1 nice red that got off. We then changed locations and started throwing some jigs and spoons and stuff and ended up catching 5 before we headed back at noon. 2 went 19", 1-20" 1-22" and 1-26.5". All and all not a bad day. We were back in Quicny @ 2:00 and had a couple of fish to clean. Looks like I'll be tak'n the preacher more often. Even if he does drink all the beer.
