Left the ramp at 8:00 in the am. We headed out the mouth of the river and went east towards the bird racks. Over the next 4 hours, we drifted and never started the boat. During this time, we boated 9 keeper trout and a huge sailcat. We lost a few nice keepers right at the boat because dad took off without the net! About 1:30 or so, we lost all breeze and the flats were smooth as glass. We continued fishing with SWA's under an Equalizer. The trout were still hitting, but not like they were when there was a nice breeze and a little chop on the water. We decided to move in closer and during a 45 minute drift, we finished catching our limit of trout. During this time I was also "spooled" by something huge. The "fish" ran and never stopped....even after my reel was emptied of all the line! About 10 minutes later, my dad got "broke off" by something else huge. My only rational guess was a cobia. We ended the day with our limit of trout (15....and there was 3 of us...haha), 1 huge sailcat, and a couple of small rock bass. Most of the trout were caught off SWA's (electric chicken, space guppy and a glow worm) fished under CT's and an Equalizer. We also caught a few off shrimp on a jig head. The fish hit all day long and we caught 35-40 trout and lost about 10 more. Can't wait till this weekend!!!!!
