I bought one of the two Cabo rod and reel setups that Silverking has for sale on the site. That was two weeks ago. For one reason and another hundred I have not been able to take it out and test it. Finally Sunday the day came that I could go. Checked the tides on WCTV with coffee in the mourning, high tide 3:30PM, perfect. I thought it should have been early in the mourning but more excuse to go try the rod and reel out. Got to the Aucilla around 11 and I was right high tide was in the mourning. No problem I brought the G-3 for shallow water anyways so I out we go. Armed with the new rod and reel and a new lure (skitterwalk) that I was shown at the meeting this month. We get out the mouth of the river and the water was like glass. Perfect!!! I started casting when the wife says she sees a fish feeding. Looked good so I cast over there and WHAM, 26" red fish!!!!!!!!!! Not on the water 20 minutes and have a great fish in the boat. Spent the rest of the day trying to catch another with no luck. Caught a couple of short trout and probably would have caught more but playing with the new setup was more fun. Coming in the tide was really low now. At the 3:30 supposed high tide it was dead low. Almost to the ramp when I hit something HARD. Broke the top mount for the motor and limped the rest of the way in. Had to winch the boat on the trailer because I could not get it down in the water. Bummer!! Still great trip for the rod and reel, Silver king was right that is one sweet setup!!!! I'll post pictures if someone can tell me how.

Sorry to hear about the engine mishap but glad you're pleased with the Cabo 40 rig. They do make a sweet set-up. Nice red.

I do have one more available (brand new Cabo PTS reel and Cabo 7-ft. medium rod) if anyone else needs a new outfit. See my listing on F/S for more details.

I am not sure what part of the mount bracket you broke, or what motor you have, but Waivel Porter in Woodville is real good at repairing "Aucilla" accidents. Go ahead and get a Porter rock guard if you head down there.

Thanks for the tip Steve. I already had the rock guard on there and motor was dropped off at Waivel's this mourning. The only thing that saved that lower unit was the rock guard. Waivel is going to straighten out the rock guard and they had an old motor to get the mounts off from so should not be too bad.

Everyone that fishes out on the flats needs to have a rock guard from Waivel. That was my first TEST and made me a believer.
