I have gone totally spinning over the last few years(6 Stradic/Challenger) but I can't get used to the feel of fishing topwater w/ a spinning reel. I am looking for a quality baitcaster under $200 but I like the external cast control on the side(not sure what its called). I really like the Challenger spinning rods for the money but I have not used the casting rods. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.

X3; set it up on a 7' M Shimano Crucial or 7'2" M Cumara and you have one sweet combo. The Crucial is about $150 and the Cumara is a little over $200...well worth it considering that they both have a great warranty. SGO can hook you up with both.

I have several E7 / Challenger combo's - I like the setup with a medium rod....some prefer the same rod in a Medium heavy....I have an older Curado 200 on a challenger spinner bait rod that I like for top water. South Georgia Outdoors is where all my combos came from.

If you talking about the magnetic cast control on the side of the spool opposite of the normal cast control and handle - that is predominantly used in freshwater....saltwater might induce some problems with magnets.

Me too, I love mine and they cast just as far as my Stradic 3000. Very light weight and low small profile.
