Caught this while throwing a cast net. Never seen this fish before

looks like a gizzard shad to me ...

is it a razorbelly?
used to catch em in mullet net by the hundreds, thats what we called em. very sharp on the belly. and a pain when caught in a net.

Looks like a shad to me also. Were you cast nettin' on Lake Jackson?

That is not whitebait! As the west coasters would call it Scalled sardine, Harengula jaguana!

Gizzard Shad.. Ochlochnee River is full of them.
