Caught this while throwing a cast net. Never seen this fish before

is it a razorbelly?
used to catch em in mullet net by the hundreds, thats what we called em. very sharp on the belly. and a pain when caught in a net.

Looks like a shad to me also. Were you cast nettin' on Lake Jackson? :roll:

That is not whitebait! As the west coasters would call it Scalled sardine, Harengula jaguana!

It is a gizzard shad though Dorosoma cepedianum

Gizzard Shad.. Ochlochnee River is full of them.
